PODIUM FOR LE ROUX

Josh le Roux has claimed a podium finish in just his second outing in the Investchem Formula 1600 championship.

Josh was excited to be racing again, as teams headed into the second round of the Extreme Festival held at Zwartkops Raceway over the weekend (19 April) and his enthusiasm was well placed.

After progressing nicely through Friday’s practice sessions Josh found a good qualifying setup and was able to launch himself onto the front row of the grid by setting the second fastest qualifying lap.

Although nervous about starting on the front row, Josh handled the pressure like a seasoned professional holding on to second place off the start. Josh lost a position during the course of the race, but wasted no time taking it back. He crossed the finish line in the number two spot.

Josh had a solid start to race two, but in the jostle for position, dropped down to fourth place. He was, however, able to regain his position to take the chequered flag in third.

Two good podium finishes resulted in second overall for the day.

“I’m really happy with the results, especially with it being only my second race in the category and my first race at Zwartkops. I could not have done it without the backing and support of my team, sponsors and family,” enthused Josh.

The next race will be held in Gqeberha on 29th May.
