EXCITING YEAR AHEAD FOR JOSH LE ROUX
After finishing third in the Investchem Formula 1600 championship in his debut season last year, Josh Le Roux is excited about his prospects for the new season, which kicks off at Killarney Raceway on Saturday 5 March 2022.
Josh took to single-seaters like a duck to water and hasn’t looked back, despite the many challenges that the Covid 19 pandemic posed. The RDSA backed driver earned 6 podium finishes last year, as well as taking one pole position and fastest lap of the race.
“We definitely had good pace last year and I was able to earn podium finishes despite it being my debut season. We had one or two technical glitches that cost us valuable championship points, but last year was all about learning the new circuits and the new car,” expressed Josh.
Whilst Josh is feeling confident for the upcoming season, he knows that it won’t be a walk in the park, with the series boasting a particularly strong field this year.
In addition to competing in the South African Investchem 1600 Championship, Josh will also be developing his talents overseas, an opportunity that he was robbed of previously due to the pandemic.
Having completed the necessary training and upon his 16th birthday at the beginning of March, Josh will be eligible to race in the British National Formula Ford Championship. Josh will compete in Silverstone at the end of March, in Brands Hatch in August and in Donington Park in September.
“It is really going to be an exciting year, both here and abroad. I am exceptionally lucky to have incredible support and backing from my family and sponsors; Investchem, RDSA, New Heights and Steel Form Art. It really is a dream come true and I will be giving 100%,” concluded Josh.
Spectators will be allowed at Killarney on Saturday and racing will also be streamed on the Extreme Festival Facebook Page and YouTube Channel.
