JOSH LE ROUX TAKES ZWARTKOPS WIN

The second round of the Investchem Formula 1600 championship took place at Zwartkops Raceway this past weekend (23 April 2022) and Josh Le Roux walked away with another race win under his belt.

Josh had a perfect start to the weekend, putting himself on pole position for both heats. The Sparco ambassador drove a flawless first race, getting himself into lead off the start and staying there unchallenged for the full 10 laps, to claim his second race win of the 2022 season.

Race two was a bit more of a challenge. Although Josh started from pole, he lost a position into turn one. He showed tremendous pace and lined-up for a pass, but found himself under attack from behind and had to back out of the move in order to defend his own position. After some intense wheel to wheel action, a mistake from the two drivers saw a touch that sent Josh off the circuit. He dropped from 2nd to 8th, with just two laps to go. Josh recovered to eventually take the flag in 7th.

Fortunately, Josh’s impressive race one results were enough to keep him on the second step of the podium in the overall standings.

“It was a really good weekend and my team did a fantastic job to ensure we had both reliability and pace. The results in the second race were a bit disappointing, but it is always fun to be involved in such close racing. Overall, I am very happy with this weekend’s achievements and I can’t wait for the next one,” exclaimed Josh.
