SEASON FINALE PODIUM FOR JOSH LE ROUX
The final round of the 2023 BMW M Performance Series took place at Zwartkops Raceway last weekend (18 November) and Josh le Roux had a strong showing, claiming a podium finish.
Friday’s practice sessions set a positive tone for the weekend, with Josh immediately on pace and topping the time sheets. Based on his lap times, Josh was elevated from Class B and placed into the premier class, Class A. Unfortunately, he was unable to carry this pace into the qualifying session, after his engine seized. His team replaced the engine overnight.
The first race was marred by a major accident that saw the red flag being issued and a circuit barrier having to be rebuilt. The race was then scored in two parts with Josh being the eventual race winner.
Josh started race two from the front row of the grid, unfortunately, a power steering issue saw him pit and then rejoin the race. He finished two laps down.
Despite the race two difficulties, Josh’s results were still good enough to place him second in the overall standings for the day.
“It was a good end to what has been a particularly challenging year. I would like to offer my sincere thanks to my family and friends for their unwavering support and to my sponsors for backing me on track and off,” commented Josh.
Josh will now start making preparations for the 2024 season. Watch this space for more info.
