South African Rotax Max championship, Zwartkops Raceway, 19 and 20 September

GOOD RESULTS FOR JOSH LE ROUX AT ZWARTKOPS

Josh le Roux was thrilled to be back on track this past weekend and achieved some good results in the second round of the South African Rotax Max championship. The event, which took place at Zwartkops Raceway on 19 and 20 September, saw 6 heats take place over two days.

Josh had a good qualifying session, getting himself onto the third row of the grid. He was just seven tenths of a second off the pole-sitters time. Josh used the first heat to come to grips with the new class, new tyres and new chassis. He crossed the finish line in 11th.

More comfortable with the kart, Josh finished race two in sixth place.

After a few set-up changes, Josh was feeling confident and made a real challenge for podium positions on Sunday. He was very effective off the starts and found himself jostling for positions amongst the top five. Josh took fourth place in heat three and fifth in race four.

Unfortunately, an on-track incident saw Josh getting airborne in race five and resulted in damage to his RS Kart chassis. The team repaired the chassis damage between heats, but in the short amount of time available, didn’t see that the radiator had been damaged. This resulted in the engine overheating in the final heat.

Despite the DNF in the final heat, Josh still finished 8th in the overall standings for the day.
