JOSH LE ROUX TO MAKE F1600 DEBUT
After what feels like an eternity of waiting, Josh le Roux will finally get to make his Investchem Formula 1600 debut this weekend, at the first round of the Extreme Festival which will take place at Killarney on Saturday 20 March 2021.
2020 was a disappointing year for Josh, who missed out on representing South Africa in the FIK Karting Academy Trophy, due to Covid-19 restrictions. The young karter then turned his attention to single-seater racing but was unable to secure his National Main Circuit Racing licence because he did not meet the minimum age requirements. Whilst Josh competed in a few karting events, it was clearly evident that his heart was elsewhere.
Now, after almost a year of anticipation and just a few days after his 15th birthday, Josh will make his main circuit debut.
“I am really excited about racing this weekend and have been dreaming about this moment for a long time. Whilst most of my practice has been in-land at Red Star Raceway and Zwartkops, I was fortunate enough to test at Killarney a few weeks ago and am feeling excited,” exclaimed Josh.
“My aim for the weekend is really just to stay out of trouble and soak up the experience,” he explained.
Josh is also proud to debut his new sponsors this weekend; New Heights, ILCA, Heydeck Line Boring and Cloud Electrical.
“A massive thank you to my sponsors for coming on-board with me this season, as well as to my team and most importantly my family for making this dream become a reality,” concluded Josh.
Although spectators won’t be permitted at the event, racing will be live streamed.
