STRONG PERFORMANCE FROM JOSH LE ROUX

Josh le Roux put in a strong performance in the fifth round of the 2021 Investchem Formula 1600 Championship, which was held at Red Star Raceway on Saturday 25 September.

2021 has certainly been a learning curve for Josh, with every circuit being a new adventure for the former South African karter. Josh had a good start to race weekend, progressing through the ranks as he came to terms with the circuit. His work paid off, when Josh set the third fastest qualifying lap, putting himself on to the second row of the grid.

Josh had a good start to race one, holding on to third place. By the end of lap two, he had worked his way into second and was leading a three car train for position. Not letting the pressure get to him, Josh did a sterling job, holding onto second place to the flag.

Things didn’t go according to plan in race two, with Josh balking on the start and losing some ground. In what felt like an eternity, but was in reality, less than a second, he got going, but had lost a position and dropped down to fourth place.

Josh drove hard to keep the pressure on the cars ahead of him, but with the circuit being very limited in terms of overtaking opportunities, Josh decided that holding on to the position with better than running off track.

Josh took the flag in fourth place. His commendable results saw him ending second overall for the day.
